		<description>I agree that spiked or other specialist winter bike tyres are the best option - but plastic, not metal, cable ties are a dirt cheap and very practical way of adding extra grip on ice and snow.

Bike wheels allow them to be applied in minutes and the cable ties - first Internet example I found is here http://www.globalplastics.co.uk/Standard_Cable_Ties.shtml but there are loads of them.

I found out about this from other Internet sites - it is not my genius brain in play, just passing on a tip I found on a few sites like this one http://www.dutchbikeco.com/_blog/Dutch_Bike_Co_Weblog/post/Seattle_Snowpocalypse/.

Grit and rubber on your shoes - now that is my idea.  Sadly I can&#039;t sell such a kit because of the risk of being sued if anyone has an accident somewhwere along the line, which is why I stick to selling EC standard tested products...</description>
