All the fun of a family mountain biking event
Scotland is renowned worldwide as a top mountain biking nation. Across the country you can find numerous purpose-built mountain biking centres and many miles of natural cross-country routes ideal for off-ride riders. One of the plus-points of mountain biking is that it’s open to a wide range of ages and fitness levels.
For families looking for an activity that both children and adults can do then mountain biking makes a great choice.
If you and your kids are mountain biking fans then why not head along to an event being organised this bank holiday weekend at Lennoxtown? The Lennox Forest Mountain Bike Challenge takes place on Sunday September 26. It’s a FREE event and offers off-road races for children and adults.
There are three challenge levels:
Junior 7 – 11 yrs at 10.30am
Youth 12 – 17 yrs at noon
Seniors 18+ yrs at 2pm
The senior route is a challenging five-mile course so riders will need to have a moderate skill level on a mountain bike to navigate successfully.
Start and finish: The start is at Celtic Football Club Training Centre. The finish is at Veitch Place, Lennoxtown.
What else?: The event also offers some other mountain bike-focused sessions, such as Demo bikes and bike skills training.
