Meet the GUV (or Grassed Up Van)

Written by Fiona May 30 2011

Meet the GUV! Or Grassed Up Van. This is the new astro-turf clad vehicle from online outdoor retailer Loving Outdoors that will be roving around the UK this summer heading to outdoor events, festivals and popular walking routes.

The GUV will be offering a range of services including advice, tips and hot drinks and snacks. As Scott Woodhead, the founder of Loving Outdoors, says: “We’re all about putting a face to what we do and there’s no better way to get to know our customers than sharing an afternoon on the hills with them.”

The GUV will also provide a way to supporting the Loving Outdoors charity Loving Earth, so on occasions they’ll be selling hot drinks and snacks with all proceeds going to the charity.

“And when it is not being used for events we might also use it as a mobile office with a view,” adds Scott.

The GUV’s maiden voyage took the team to the recent Keswick Mountain Festival. “The wind may have been blowing a gale but The GUV certainly raised some smiles among the crowd…and eyebrows!” says Tim Horrocks, communication manager at Loving Outdoors.

Next stop will be the Cliffhanger event in Sheffield July, then V Festival and then… perhaps a festival or hill near you. Loving Outdoors has been promising a trip to Scotland for a while now…

If you’re wondering about the environmental implications of all this touring Loving Outdoors assure me that the GUV has been carbon offset to bring it in line with the company’s ecological sensibilities.

* Since launching their website in 2009, Loving Outdoors has gained popularity for their interesting, fun and personable approach to outdoor retail. They were recently named ‘Best Start Up Company’ at the E-commerce awards.
