Christmas gift idea: MCofS membership

Written by Fiona October 11 2011

What do you buy the outdoors addict in your life? They can be picky about kit, and usually want to choose the exact waterproof jacket, ice axe or kayak themselves. You could replace a piece of equipment that you know has worn out, but perhaps you feel this is a little boring. Instead, here’s a great gift that many outdoors walkers and mountianeers will treasure: The Gift of Membership to the Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS).

The Gift of Membership is the new MCofS initiative that enables you to buy a year’s membership of the MCofS for someone else. But why? Well, the MCofS is Scotland’s only national representative body for hill walkers, climbers and ski-mountaineers. They work to serve members and act to represent, support and promote Scottish mountaineering. When you join the other 10,500 members both you and the mountain environment will benefit.

MCofS members enjoy a wide range of benefits.

MCofS Chief Officer David Gibson said: “The Gift of Membership could be of interest to parents looking for a gift for their children (including grown-up children), husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends seeking out a gift for their mountaineering partner, or perhaps an existing MCofS member who wants to introduce a friend or family member to the many benefits of MCofS membership.”

The Gift of Membership offer is explained fully on the MCofS website

MCofS Membership Development Officer Mike Dales said: “The Gift of Membership is not just for Christmas.  While it is a brilliant gift for Christmas, it is also an option for birthdays, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day.  That is why this offer will continue to be available beyond the New Year festivities.”

For further information contact Mike Dales on [email protected] or go to the MCofS website.

The annoying thing is, the G-Force already has MCofS membership! Back to the Christmas present buying drawing board.
