Written by Fiona November 27 2012

His scores improve with every round –  and his excitement his contagious. In round three of the Scottish Tolling Series, held in Aberdeen, the G-Force won the veterans class. He was also very pleased to be placed 12th overall “out of all the people taking part, even the younger ones,” he told me!

This is the first time that G has entered the STS and he says he wishes there were more rounds so he could compete on more weekends throughout the winter.

He said: “The competitions are a great way to get fitter and stronger and I’m really enjoying the challenge. The events remind me of cycling as a youngster. The first time it’s tough and you don’t do so well but very quickly you understand what is required of you and you can push yourself a bit harder.

‘In the last round I was very careful about how I climbed. I didn’t want to make a silly move and fall off the wall. I was careful – and I felt much stronger.”

Event STS organiser Neil Silver said after the Aberdeen event: “It was great to see. Gordon was totally buzzing after his score!”

The fourth and final round takes place at Glemmore Lodge, near Aviemore, this Saturday (December 1, 2012). Come along to watch the spectator-friendly event if you’re not planning to climb.
