KEEN support mountain clean up
Sadly, areas of natural beauty sometimes end up covered in rubbish. You’ve all seen the waste left by mankind – and it’s not pretty. Thanks to volunteers, many such places are given a spruce up and in, June Respect the Mountains – in conjunction with KEEN – will be focusing on the Peak District and the Lake District.
You can get involved in the UK Envirotrek clean up on June 16 in the Peak District and June 23 in the Lake District.

UK Envirotrek: What
The programme kicks off at 9.30am with volunteers walking a track and clearing and collecting rubbish and waste. Group leaders are allocated and all participants will be provided with cleaning and safety equipment and fully briefed with a safety talk. The clean-up finishes at around 12.30pm, with volunteers being rewarded for their mornings’ efforts with a hearty lunch on the hillside.
Participants get to spend the remainder of the afternoon enjoying a range of fun outdoor pursuits organised by the Envirotrek leaders. There’s also a chance to win some great prizes including KEEN footwear and gifts for the most unique and quirky litter found on the hill. The day’s event closes at approximately 4pm.
Note: An entrance fee of £9 is payable locally on the day. Children with a responsible adult welcome, ages up to 12, are priced at £4.50. If you recently purchased a pair of KEENs (since August 2012) registration is free. Please take your receipt of purchase with you to the Envirotrek. Respect the Mountains cann’t accept a free entrance without purchase receipt.
Robust, comfortable footwear recommended (KEENs are, of course, ideal!). Participants are advised to bring water, sunscreen and a water/windproof jacket.
