Thinking about the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon?

Written by Fiona November 05 2013

get-attachment-84The Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon has been on my radar for a couple of years and 2014 might just be the one in which I enter (if I can persuade the G-Force to get down off the climbing walls for a day!). The Quad is a multi-discipline adventure race over one day. It includes:

  • Swim – 1.35k (0.8 miles) to north side of Loch Tay
  • Run/Walk – seven Munros encompassing the Lawers and Ptarmigan Ridges to Morenish (approx 24k or 15 miles)
  • Kayak – 11k (7 miles) back to Ardtalnaig
  • Cycle – around Loch Tay 54k (34 miles)
  • Slice a melon – in two with a sword to stop the clock. (I didn’t know about that last bit until I read the details more closely!)

get-attachment-86All competitors must raise funds for chosen charities, Mary’s Meals and Mercy Corp,  as well as paying their entry fee.

During the event, founder of the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon, David Fox-Pitt, will show a DVD of the event and chat about the Quad’s unique ethos and fundraising, the route, kit, training and preparation. There is an open Q&A session at the end of the presentation for as long as people have time for.

Mercy Corps and Mary’s Meals, the two beneficiary charities, will also be there to give you a proper taste of the incredible impact the Quad fundraising has around the world.
