An adventure is an adventure, even if it’s a mini adventure. Alastair Humphreys is hugely enthusiastic about the concept of adventure and believes that everyone can enjoy one even in their back garden.

His Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 07.58.33new book Microadventures: Local Discoveries, Great Escapes reveals many adventures, from an outdoors dinner with friends to walking coast to coast across Scotland. Each adventure includes other ideas for scaling down the outing so that it can be enjoyed by all, wherever you live.

I love this idea. I hadn’t heard of the term Microadventure before now but I have enjoyed many such outings. The book is very appealing and Alastair’s energy is fantastic. Read my article in the Sunday Mail. You can win one of five Microadventures books.
