Fort William climbing project seeks £40k
A new climbing centre in Fort William has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £40,000 in 28 days.
Fort William is located at the heart of the Outdoor Capital of the UK and with Ben Nevis on its doorstep, the area is already acclaimed as a climbing magnet.
However, Scotland’s fickle weather doesn’t always allow for outdoors climbing and the Three Wise Monkeys Climbing centre is aimed at filling the gaps between the sunshine.
Three Wise Monkeys Climbing will be based in a disused church on the Fort William high street.
Oliver Millington, managing director and founder of the project, says: “The Three Wise Monkeys Climbing project is a truly exciting prospect for Fort William and the climbing community in the UK.
“We believe that a new indoor activity for all ages and abilities open year round would be a huge benefit to people who love the amazing outdoor area that we live in, but get stuck when the weather is poor.
“We’re crowdfunding because we want the local and visiting outdoor community to have a chance to be part of the history of our project. We’ve put together some great rewards, so as well as a brilliant new climbing centre in town, everyone will get something back for supporting us.”
Three Wise Monkeys Climbing are offering rewards for individuals and businesses, from their super funder t-shirts to lifetime memberships of the climbing centre.
