Sign up for the Pentlands Push
A charity challenge is calling for walkers and runners to sign up for The Push. Taking place on September 19, in aid of St Columba’s Hospice, The Push offers a range of different course styles and distances in the Pentland hills, near Edinburgh.
There are three distances:
Bronze: 14 miles
Silver: 20 miles
Gold: 26.2 miles.
Participants are sponsored to either walk or run the distances and the money raised goes towards the hospice.
There is also a five-mile Nudge event for families.
Why take part in The Push?
The Push is seen as a challenge, whether you take on the 14, 20 or 26.2 mile course. There are steep inclines with muddy off-road paths but the bonus is beautiful landscape, camaraderie and great support.
To tackle The Push, you will need a good level of fitness, team spirit and a list of compulsory kit.
The event offers support with a hearty breakfast to kickstart your chosen challenge and regular refuelling points. There will be food and entertainment after the finish line.
The Push is an ideal team event for families, friends, colleagues, corporate teams, clubs and societies.
Readers of my blog can take advantage of a discount code, which will reduce the registration from £75 to £60. The code to use is PUSH2015.
What is St Columba’s Hospice?
The Push is St Columba’s Hospice largest annual event to raise much-needed funds for the hospice, which costs £8million a year to run. The hospice is a 30-bed inpatient unit that treats more than 500 patients every year, as well as a nurse-led day hospice that provides holistic treatment and symptom management three days a week. The hospice also supports a community team of six palliative care nurses, who complete 3,000 visits each year to patients in their homes.
