A charity set up by a retired teacher from Fife that provides help to remote communities in Nepal that are still suffering from the effects of the two devastating earthquakes will be the focus of a BBC2 programme later this week.
The amazing work of James Lamb will be revealed to UK viewers on December 13 at 8pm as part of Scotland’s monthly Adventure Show.

Definitive figures are difficult to verify but it is believed that the Nepal earthquakes earlier this year killed more than 8,500 people and injured more than double that number. Almost three million people were displaced and more than one million people are still in need of food aid.

James, a mountaineer from the village of Falkland, set up his Scottish charity, the Little Sherpa Foundation, to help people in the remote village of Phortse in the Everest National Park.
The village is home to many Everest veteran Sherpas including Ang Tshering, who has summited the world’s highest mountain three times. His house was destroyed in the earthquakes and, like many others in his village, he will spend the bitterly cold Himalayan winter living in a tent.
Many of these villagers would struggle to survive without the Little Sherpa Foundation, which was founded in partnership with a local monk, Tashi Lama.

Battling the inevitable bureaucracy, James has brought tents, sleeping bags, clothing and financial help to the village. It’s a remarkable story of an extraordinary effort to ensure these people are not forgotten. A TV crew from BBC Scotland’s Adventure Show has recorded his efforts.
