Heard about the Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoors Pursuits Show?
On the weekend of March 11 to 13, 2016, a new Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoors Pursuits Show comes to SECC Glasgow. Organised by city-based PSP Media Group Ltd, the experts behind the Scottish Golf Show and Girls’ Day Out shows, SCROPS looks likely to be a popular event and one that will attract a wide range of people. Discounted early booking tickets go on sale today.
I have chosen my 10 favourite things to look out for at the Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoors Pursuits Show.
Highlight bikes: Merida Bikes will be bringing two of the world’s most coveted road bikes to the show, the super-lightweight Scultura 9000 LDT, which tips the scales at just 4.55kg, and it’s more affordable sibling, the award-winning Scultura 6000.
Islabikes: Acclaimed children’s bike brand Islabikes will offer a fantastic opportunity to see and try their range of bikes. Although Islabikes offers a comprehensive on-line guide to their bike sizes, they are not stocked in the usual retailers so SCROPS is your chance to see the brilliant bikes in real-life and let your kids try them for size.
Scottish brands: Did you know that Keela has been making brilliant outdoor clothing for more than 25 years from its HQ is in Fife. Find out more about their products, including waterproof breathable jackets, high wicking base layers, performance softshells and micro fleeces.
Bike fit: Many cyclists will be wondering if their bike fits correctly. Perhaps a tweak here or an adjustment there will improve speed, power, comfort and bike feel. Find out more from exhibitor Edinburgh Bike Fitting at SCROPS.
Smidge: If you want to know more about one of the best anti-midge products, Smidge, now is your opportunity. Representatives will be at the show.
Cycling things to do: Not only will their be lots of exhibitors, but visitors can also enjoy a range of cycling activities including an indoor cycling track, indoor mountain bike track, street velodrome racing and a kids’ cycling area.
What is a street velodrome?
Running things to do: Runners can try the indoor running track and take part in time trials and biometric testing.
Outdoorsy things to do: Try the climbing walls, ropes challenges, a Segways course. A triathlon challenge and an Ironman-style challenge.
Big names: The full line up of guest speakers is yet to be announced but I have it on good authority that there will be some great names and starts of running, cycling and the outdoors worlds.
So much more: Scottish outdoors events, cycling, running and outdoors stores, wildlife organisations, charities, tourism associations. The list goes on. See event details to find out who has signed up to attend SCROPS already.
