Can this be true?: Cycling is better than sex

A new survey claims that cycling is better sex. According to the 600 cyclists asked in the survey, carried out cycle retailer AllTerrainCycles.co.uk, only 4% of cyclists prefer Sunday morning sex, while 68% cyclists prefer to hit the road.

All Terrain Cycles reckons this shows that the UK cycling boom could be spelling the end of the road for romantic weekend lie-ins.

But surely this survey is just a bit of nonsense? Yes, there is a big increase in the numbers of cyclists and, of course, they make use of their weekends to go out on their bikes. Saturday and Sunday mornings are also very popular times for club cycle rides and for parents who need to get their cycling done before other family duties later in the day.

But it doesn’t mean that cyclists aren’t still at it between the sheets. Hopefully, most cyclists are still having sex but they simply choose to do it at another time, which does not affect their Sunday cycling ride.

Indeed, other surveys have shown that people who are physically active, such as runners and cyclists, enjoy more time between the sheets with their partners – and have better sex.

Top cycling companions

Thankfully there is good news to be found in the new survey. One in five (19%) of those polled said their partner would be their ideal cycling companion, the most popular choice by far.

The second most popular choice, Sir Bradley Wiggins, trailed at just 8% of the vote and Lizzie Armitstead was the third most popular choice with one in 20 cyclists choosing her.

Tony Booth, of All Terrain Cycles, says: “We wanted to learn more about what our customers like about the sport, their cycling habits and their views on new technology. As well as the lighter side of the survey there have been some interesting insights into customers’ behaviours and trends.
