New aerial adventure course opens in Scottish shopping centre

An aerial adventure course has opened in a shopping centre in West Lothian. HiRide is suspended from the roof and 13m above shoppers at The Centre in Livingston.

Over a span of 100 metres the course includes a 15m zip track and a variety of fun and challenging obstacles, such as a swinging bridge and rolling log.

The opening of HiRide by Aerial Adventures follows the launch earlier this month of HiClimb and HiFall.

HiRide is a vertical climbing wall with 20 obstacles and three-dimensional objects across five routes, including climbing balls, cargo nets, rope ladders and vertical discs.

Centre staff give the aerial course a try.

HiFall is the UK’s first free-falling descender, where participants are hoisted up 12m into the air before being quickly but safely released to the ground.

The adventure activities are located in the Winter Garden, directly above H&M and Beaverbrooks, and also include a 60 sq ft, three-level soft play area for children up to 12 years old, with a separate area for babies and toddlers.

Patrick Robbertze, director at The Centre, Livingston, said: “Our new adventure activities including HiRide, which is the first of its kind to be positioned directly above shoppers in a shopping mall, is a fantastic addition to the great offering we have at The Centre Livingston.

“Visitors will now be able to enjoy a full day out, where they can shop, eat and play together.”

Mark Murray, managing director at Aerial Adventures, said: “We are delighted to be opening our exciting range of adventure activities including HiRide and HiClimb at the start of the school summer holidays.

“We’re expecting all of our activities to be a huge hit with locals and visitors from further afield looking for a great day out with the family trying out something new together.”
