Mountain bike stars headline new Scottish outdoor festival
Top mountain bikers Greg Minnaar and Steve Peat will be the star attractions of an inaugural Dunoon Outdoor Festival and Expo “Summit to Sea” in September 2019.
The three-day festival aims to celebrate the outdoors in and around Dunoon and will be held for the first time in the town on Scotland’s Adventure Coast from September 27 to 29.
The event, presented by the Dunoon Project, will include the annual Dunoon Triathlon as well as a host of other activities, such as running, mountain biking, mountaineering talks and sea kayaking.
MTB stars of the show
Greg Minnaar is multiple Downhill World Cup and World Champion.He is also an ambassador for the Dunoon Project. He will be speaking about his career on Saturday September 28.
Originally from South Africa, Greg has achieved 21 Downhill World Cup victories and 75 podiums. He is no stranger to Scottish audiences, having won the World Cup race in Fort William for an astonishing seven times, most recently in 2017.
In A truly Scotland audience with Greg Minnaar and Rob Warner, he will be interviewed by another UK mountain bike legend, Rob Warner, who in 1996 became the first British rider to win a round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
Another MTB big name, Steve Peat, will open the festival on Friday September 27 with a one-night- only Bikes & Beers show, telling the story of his illustrious racing career.
In Bikes & Beers, presented by Speakers from the Edge, Steve will take the audience on the journey that saw him rise from plumbing to podiums and to becoming one of the most successful downhill racers of all time.
Both events will be held at Queen’s Hall on Dunoon’s Esplanade. (7.30pm for Steve Peat and 8pm for Greg Minnaar.)

What is the Dunoon Project?
The Dunoon Project is a major development currently at the feasibility stage. The project hopes to include the creation of a cable car uplift and hilltop visitor facility, cafe, zip wire and mountain biking trail infrastructure.
