Watersports offer a fun activity, especially if you are looking for a new way to enjoy yourself in the great outdoors. Here are seven centres across the UK to try a watersport.

1. Anglian Waterparks

Anglian Waterparks has four destinations that are perfect for water lovers and watersports enthusiasts. 

Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, paddleboarding and kayaking can be tried at Rutland Water. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there are activities to suit everyone. Located at Edith Weston, you can join Rutland Sailing Club or if canoeing is more your thing, join Rutland Canoe Club based at Whitwell.

With year-round hire of canoes, paddleboards and everything in between, Alton Water Watersports Centre has activities to suit all ages and abilities. Take in the stunning scenery of Alton Water while taking part in a whole host of fun and challenging watersports.

If you are looking to take up water sports as a new hobby, look no further than England’s third biggest reservoir, Grafham Water. Join Grafham Water Sailing Club and receive expert tuition from professionals with more than 30 years’ experience.

With qualified RYA instructors, the Northampton Sailing Club at Pitsford Water caters for all abilities and is a great place to start sailing and windsurfing.

Anglian Waterparks is home to some of the best water sports in the UK. What’s more, providing a wide range of different activities, there is something for the whole family. 

2. Brighton Marina and Hove Lagoon

Located at opposite ends of the famous pebbled beach, Brighton Marina and Hove Lagoon are home to an array of fantastic water sports in the city of Brighton and Hove.

Hove Lagoon is one of the country’s premier water sports centres, along with sister company Brighton Marina Watersports.

Windsurfing, wakeboarding, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking are just some of the activities on offer at Hove Lagoon, alongside full tuition, equipment and wetsuit hire.

Brighton Marina also has a wide range of activities that are suitable for all ages and abilities. Take in the scenic views of the seaside city whilst yacht sailing or head on a jet ski adventure.

3. Newquay Activity Centre

Newquay Activity Centre is located in the heart of Cornwall and has more than 20 years of experience in providing watersports activities.

With a variety of award-winning activities including surfing, bodyboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and coasteering, there really is something for everyone.

Located on the beach and open seven days a week, all-year round, Newquay Activity Centre offers private lessons, experience days and group sessions for all abilities and ages.

4. Adventure Parc Snowdonia

5. Hayling Island

Hayling Island is based along the South Coast, sheltered by the Isle of Wight, and offers an array of exciting and challenging water sports activities.

Home to the annual National Watersports Festival, Hayling Island has wide, open spaces and sheltered waters – perfect for dinghy sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing, power boating and kitesurfing.

6 Foxlake Dundee

In Scotland, Foxlake Dundee, located in the city’s harbour, offers cable wakeboarding, whihc is great fun for all ages.

Foxlake also has SUPs, ringo rides and an inflatable aqua park.

There is another Foxlake water centre called Foxlake Adventures, at Dunbar, East Lothian where you can try cable wakeboarding, open water swimming and other watersports.

7 Galloway Activity Centre

Located on Loch Ken in Dumfries & Galloway in southern Scotland, Galloway Activity centre offers a wide range of watersports for all ages.

You can join a RYA sailing course on Loch Ken.

Try kayaking, SUPs, sailing, windsurfing, a giant water slide or the Wobbly Waterpark.
