Review: Osprey Ultralight Packing Cube Set
For too many years I spent too much time rummaging around in my large Osprey suitcase each time I needed another item of clothing or a holiday gadget. This time I packed my luggage with the aid of Osprey Ultralight Packing Cubes. It made a huge difference to my enjoyment of travelling.

On test: Osprey Ultralight Packing Cube Set
Usually my large suitcase – the Osprey Rolling Transporter 90 – is a jumble of clothing and products. It will start fairly neatly but within a day, the clothes are all mixed up and every time I need a fresh item I have to pull most of the stuff out of the bag to find what I am after.
On my recent month-long ski trip in Canada, Utah and Colorado, I made use of the Osprey packing cube set. It made a huge difference to my packing and also the ease of finding items.
I packed, for example, underwear into one cube, apres-ski clothes into another cube and skiing accessories such as gloves, buffs and baselayers into another cube.
I will admit that, at first, I forgot what I had packed into each cube but within a few days I could easily remember. This meant that when I wanted an item I only needed to unzip the right cube.
I think it would be beneficial if each of the cubes was a different colour, as well as a different size, to help my memory. Would it be possible to have a system where you could add a label telling you what is inside the bag, too, or perhaps a clear panel so you can easily see inside?
Apart from this I found the cubes really useful.
They are very lightweight so they do not add a great deal of extra weight to the luggage (important when you need to meet your luggage allowance) and the fabric and zips appear to be of good quality.
When the items are inside the bag and the zip is almost closed, it’s possible to roll up the bag to push out the air and, therefore, reduce the size of the bag.
I found that packing with the cubes reduced the size and weight of my luggage.
If you have a large suitcase you might need two sets of the cubes but they are robust and not too expensive. I will be using the Osprey Ultralight Packing Cube Set time and time again.
Currently there is an offer on the Osprey website for a free packing cube set with all sales of travel backpacks and luggage.
- I receive a small amount of commission for each Osprey sale. It helps with the writing of reviews if I receive a little something for each sale. My review is not influenced by the commission.
