A road journey around Europe has a great deal to offer, including beautiful scenery and historic cities. Are you interested in escaping to see some of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes and destinations? If so, here’s a list of the top road trips in Europe.

You have the option of either driving your own car or leasing one while on vacation. For additional information, see what PCP car finance is. You will have a memorable vacation to look forward to in either scenario. Prepare to be wowed by the gorgeous roads and the most beautiful scenery Europe has to show.

Berlin.

From the grandeur of Paris to the wonderful grit of Berlin

Start your journey in the French capital city of Paris and drive through the beautiful hills of Champagne and Reims to the charming Luxembourg City, where you can visit the country’s many fairy-tale castles.

A short journey north-east takes you to Trier, Germany’s oldest city, which boasts historic Roman baths and basilicas that remain remarkably preserved.

Stay the night in the ancient village of Bacharach, located in the heart of the Riesling wine region, before exploring the riverfront streets of Heidelberg the next day. After that, it’s on to Nuremberg and Leipzig, where you can try local coffee, listen to classical music and learn more about Cold War history,

After a brief journey to Dresden, which has been repaired following Word War II, the journey concludes in one of Europe’s coolest cities: Berlin.

Amalfi.

Coast of Amalfi – Italy

The rocky coastline of Italy’s legendary Amalfi Coast, which is dotted with medieval cliff-side fishing villages, lemon gardens and agriturismos, has made the region one of the world’s most beloved road journeys.

The journey, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its stunning Mediterranean vistas, is demanding but fascinating, with twisting mountain roads and numerous blind turns.

Start your journey From Salerno and take the scenic route through Ravello, Amalfi, Positano, Minori & Maiori, and the island of Capri before arriving in Sorrento at the end.

Andermatt.

Switzerland’s most famous mountain passes – Gotthard and Oberalp

Driving across Switzerland is like a road trip dream come true; the country appears to have been made for vehicles with smooth steering. Two of the most stunning high passes in the world come together in the ski town of Andermatt, which has experienced a revival since the hotel opened its doors in 2013.

The Gotthard Pass, which runs from the Italian-speaking village of Biasca to the south, rises steeply up the rocky mountainside in a series of hairpin turns. It is worth travelling through Andermatt to the tumbling Schöllenen Gorge on the old Devil’s Bridge, which offers breathtaking views.

However, suppose you return to Andermatt and continue east. In that case, the Oberalp Pass is a sight to behold – seven miles of steep, twisting road leading to Lake Toma, the source of the Rhine, with breathtaking mountain views at every switchback is another delight not to be missed.

Madeira.

Madeira – A journey around the island

Madeira is a group of islands located off the coast of Portugal. The island of Porto Santo, which is noted for its spectacular golden sand beach, and the island of Desertas are two of the most beautiful places in the world.

If you’re planning a road trip, Madeira is the dream location. Visit Câmara de Lobos, Cabo Girao, Calheta, Porto Moniz, and its volcanic pools, considered some of the most magnificent natural swimming pools in Europe, Sao Vicente Santana, and its traditional residences, among other places.

You can also reach the island’s summit by following the routes to the Pico do Arieiro and Pico Ruivo, which are the island’s two most prominent mountains. The island of Madeira has a new tunnel that connects the north and south of the island; exploring the island is extremely convenient. Do not hesitate to stop and have a stroll around the gorgeous Madeira Forest.

Vienna.

Bucharest to Vienna: the undiscovered east

To commence your journey depart from Bucharest and travel northward via the Carpathian Mountains to Transylvania, with an obligatory stop at Bran Castle along the way.

Take the Transfagarasan mountain road, which is considered to be one of the world’s most scenic highways, to the ancient cities of Sibu, Brasov, and Sighisoara, which are home to a myriad of castles. Then it’s on to the architectural marvels of Timisoara that have yet to be discovered.

Continue on your journey towards the calm hot springs and hip pubs of lively Budapest, where you should expect to spend at least a few nights. Depart for Bratislava, a capital full of adventure, from where it is only an hour to Vienna’s coffee houses and eclectic architecture.

Conclusion

Road trips are a terrific way to see the world at your own pace. Be sure to plan ahead of time and keep your International Driving Permit with you at all times. Always be sure that you have appropriate travel insurance to meet your travel needs. End of the day, the most important thing is that you have as much fun driving in Europe as possible, so get your Europe travel planner ready and start your adventure.
