Yogathon for breast cancer charity

Written by Fiona August 29 2012

Joan Robertson, the owner of several beauty and hair salons in Glasgow, knows only too well the heartache of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily for her, she is now celebrating five years of “being in the clear”. I know Joan through friends and work colleagues and I wanted to help her to promote a vert worthwhile yogathon fundraiser.

In celebration of her “all clear” status, Joan has been busy organising a number of fundraisers to give something back to Breast Cancer Charity. Following the success of her Pink Ball fundraiser earlier in the year, Joan is now organising a fundraising YOGATHON, with accomplished yoga teacher and practitioner Lorraine Allan.

The Yogathon will take place on Saturday September 15 at 10am in Parklands Country Club, Newton Mearns, Glasgow.

Joan said: “I found yoga a great help during my recovery period. Yoga is all about balancing the body through both strength and flexibility and is also a great antidote to stress.

“We are looking forward to an energising morning with Lorraine, our yoga expert, and hope to raise in excess of £1,000.  This fun Yogathon is open to all ages and abilities, as Lorraine will guide everyone through the challenge of completing over 50 sun salutations.”

If you would like to take part to raise funds for Breast Cancer Charity while having fun working on your strength, stamina and flexibility, call the Spa at Parklands on 0141 616 4000 to book your place.  Tickets cost £10 per person with all proceeds donated to Pink Ball Breast Cancer Charity.
