I’ve known Aqua Ventura, an  outdoor activities company, for years. They offer lots of great holiday ideas including surfing, climbing, walking and sea kayaking. In 2012, they moved from Spain to southern Portugal – and I thought I’d tell you a bit about them just in case you’re thinking of booking a great outdoors family holiday for 2013.

Packing up in Spain, Jonathan, Violeta, Isabella, Dylan, dogs and woofers have moved to Portugal and are settling into their new home. The kids have moved school – and the dogs have a new place to explore.

Jonathan has ben busy checking out new places to walks, kayak, climb and surf.

He says: “Our first impressions are that this place is amazing. So wild, with so many outdoor things to do. The walking we have done so far has been spectacular. The surfing is just perfect on many days, with mild water temperatures and good waves and Dylan is becoming a little pro surfer. Bella is long boarding and has all the style of a movie star.

“We love the feel of the place. It is so relaxed it almost does not feel like we are part of Europe. The fresh seafood and earthy veggies seem to be a breath of fresh air to us. Here it is simple but real

“It’s so great to see how the coast has been looked after and we are lucky to be based in the national park of Cabo de San Vicente. This is all about spectacular and untamed scenery, massive sea cliffs broken up by the occasional white beach, flora, millions of wild flowers and herbs, amazing birds and so much more.”
