Don’t miss: Climber Simon Yearsley’s Scottish winter talk

Written by Fiona January 08 2015

If you are looking for Scottish winter outdoors inspiration – but while sitting indoors in the warmth – head along to the Tiso lecture with climber Simon Yearsley.

Simon is a warm, funny and engaging talker and in his talk at Tiso Perth Outdoor Experience on Tuesday January 13 at 7pm he will describe his passion for Scottish winter and the thrill of creating new winter climbing routes in Scotland.

Simon has a deep love for all things mountain. Fuelled by early rock-climbing adventures growing up in the UK’s beautiful Lake District, he has developed this love affair with climbing over the past 37 years.

His real passion is exploratory climbing, whether it’s making first ascents of Himalayan peaks or new routes on remote Scottish winter cliffs. He says: “I am driven by the adventure of finding new lines or new summits.”

Simon also runs Big Tree Campervans (presumably in his spare time?) and has an understanding wife and two children. He lives in Perthshire.

Here are a few testimonials of Simon’s lectures:

“Great stories which really capture the adventurous and challenging new routes which he and Malcolm have added to the Scottish winter scene” – Simon Richardson, Scottish Winter Activist.

“Cool stories and great presentation. Not a bad climber too, even though he is more than twice my age” – Greg Boswell, Scottish Winter Activist

“Absorbing and fascinating insight into his and Malcolm’s new routes in Scotland … the biggest round of applause we’ve given for a long time!” – Geoff Cohen, Scottish Mountaineering Club

“This guy is hugely passionate about his adventures in Scotland, and delivers great presentations… not as funny as mine though!” – Nick Bullock, Leading Escapee From The Rat Race

Tickets are £5 from Tiso or on the night. Plus, the lovely folk at Tiso are giving 20% off all Montane, Force 10, La Sportiva, and Petzl products for that evening.
