Kit review: Falke Ergonomic Sport System clothes

When you reach into your drawers or cupboards for fitness kit I imagine, like me, you first search for those few favourite items. While I have many, many tops, leggings, socks, baselayers etc I have my top two or three faves in each category.

Among these items are my Falke running rights. What qualifies them as a favourite is the combination of fit, feel and performance. I wear the Falke tights for running and hill walking.

Once you have a favourite item it follows that you tend to see it as a favourite brand. So, of course, I am going to be interested in new spring/summer Falke sportswear range.

2015 Falke Ergonomic Sport System

The 2015 Falke Ergonomic Sport System is focused on female runners, who want comfort, high performance and lighter weight kit.

There are items for more relaxed fitness activities, such as the Activity T-Shirt and Active Hot Pants, and more high performance kit such as Print Singlet and matching Print Three-quarter Tights.

Falke Ergonomic Sport System Activity clothing

Activity T-Shirt (RRP: £65): A lightweight, short-sleeved t-shirt with a scoop neck. It’s made from a soft jersey material with added elastane to ensure a comfortable and flattering fit.

It’s designed to be both lightweight and quick drying with a mesh insert at the back to aid ventilation. Reflective detailing is added for improved visibility when running in low light conditions.

Active Hot Pants (RRP: £55): Ideal for warmer weather running and designed to avoid sweat build up. The fit is looser and more flattering while Falke have added comfy waistband with push button and zip-front fastenings, plus a zip-fastening back pocket that’s ideal for storing keys or credit cards.

Active hot pants on test: If, like me, you sometimes feel a bit self-conscious running in skin tight shorts in summer, these shorts are the perfect way to go. I wore them over my compression running shorts for a flattering look.

The fabric is super lightweight and the design and fit is really nice. I have size M, which are a little loose although not majorly so. I am usually a size UK10/12. When running you can hardly tell that you have the shorts on (this might seem a little unnerving but it is actually very pleasant!) and there is absolutely no build up of sweat. I can see these shorts becoming another firm Falke favourite in my shorts drawer!

Falke performance sportswear for women

For more performance-orientated runners, there’s the Print Singlet and matching Print Three-quarter Tights, and a Packable Jacket that offers breathability, wind-resistance and water-repellency.

Falke Print Singlet (RRP: £75): This sleeve-less t-shirt offers a lovely fit. I have one in a size Small and it fits perfectly on my UK10 torso. It is not too tight, not too loose and just right.

The style is really lovely, with a round stand-up collar and zip-neck fastening and then print is pretty stylish and different for a sports top. The pale blue colour is also unusual.

Again, the fabric feels super light and it is really silky against my skin. I would wear this on warm days in Scotland or abroad. I can see it working well for running and cycling.

The addition reflective detailing is a good idea.

38181_3000_1Falke Print 3/4 Tights (RRP: £80): These match the singlet, if you are into mix and match sports clothing. I don’t think I would tend to wear matching items because it might make me look almost too stylish!

The construction of the tights offers Falke’s fantastic supporting design and there’s a drawstring for ensuring the tights stay up while running. I find that so many tights fall down while I run so I like the security of a drawstring.

Again, Falke have added reflective detailing and there’s a zipped pocked for small essentials.

38183_8816_5Falke Packable Jacket (RRP: £150): This super lightweight, hooded jacket is the perfect cover-up when sudden showers and cold winds threaten to ruin your run. It is both wind resistant and water repellent while remaining highly breathable.

The jacket is small enough to pack away and stash in a pocket or backpack until you really need it.

Other items in the Falke Ergonomic Sport System range include tights, running skirts, sports bras and socks.
