Reel Rock Film Tour comes to Scotland

The annual Reel Rock Film Tour, one of the world’s fastest growing adventure film festivals, will offer 14 screenings across the UK and Ireland this autumn, including one in Edinburgh.

In total in its 10th year, REEL ROCK 10 will visit more than 450 locations worldwide and on all seven continents.

REEL ROCK 10 includes exclusive premieres of short adventure films that tell the stories and struggles of the most exciting vertical achievements from the past year, including an exclusive look at the history-making Dawn Wall free ascent and an epic traverse across the jagged peaks of Patagonia.

This year’s films will feature athletes Tommy Caldwell, Kevin Jorgeson, Alex Honnold and Daniel Woods, with a special tribute to the late Dean Potter.

The Fitz Roy traverse is one of the most sought after achievements in modern alpinism. It’s a gnarly journey across seven jagged summits and 13,000 vertical feet of climbing. Join Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold on the inspiring quest that earned them the prestigious Piolet d’Or award.

24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell (24HHH) is the wildest event in the climbing world offers a mashup of ultramarathon and Burning Man, where elite climbers and novices alike go for broke. Can the team of Nic Berry and Mason Earle stand up against the all powerful Alex Honnold?

DAWN WALL: FIRST LOOK

Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson’s epic final push to free climb the Dawn Wall was an historic feat. It marked the greatest climbing achievement of a generation and captured the world’s imagination. As the Reel Rock team work to create a major feature film documenting the event slated for next year, REEL ROCK 10 will include an exclusive first look at the drama playing out at the crux of the route.

DEAN POTTER TRIBUTE

Dean Potter was the most iconic vertical adventurer of a generation. He has been an integral part of the REEL ROCK family since year one, starring in such classics as First Ascent, Fly or Die, Race for the Nose and Valley Uprising. Following his death in May, the tour will include a stirring tribute to a truly remarkable climbing athlete.
