Favourite brands: Dhb cycle kit

I am often asked about my favourite sports brands. It’s hard to choose because I like different brands for different products and within each brand I like specific items and not others. Added to that, I like some products because they fit me well, which means they might not suit other people with different physiques.

However, when it comes to cycling I really like Wiggle’s own dhb brand for the balance of quality, price, features and fit.

In particular, I like the dhb Aeron range of cycle clothing. I have had an older version of the dhb Aeron women’s halterneck bib shorts for a couple of years and they are still in good shape. While other cycle shorts have lost their elasticity, frayed, worn through or had the pad flattened to useless, the dhb Aeron bib shorts are still going strong. They are always my first choice when looking through my cycle kit drawer and I have worn them for many, many hours of cycling.

The new version of dhb Aeron women’s halterneck bib shorts are similar but now have coloured legs hems for a funkier look. These shorts seem to have a slightly plumper seat pad although it is still nicely shaped to fit the female physique.

The overall fit is perfect. I am usually a UK10 and the small fits really well. The leg length is good for me. They come to about three quarters of the way down my thigh.

What I really, really like is the solution for women who wear bib shorts but need an easy pee stop. The bibs have a halterneck upper so that you can simply pull down the back of the shorts (while your clothes stay in place on top) and go to the loo.

I reckon these dhb shorts are among the best for quality and value. Buy dhb Aeron women’s halterneck bib shorts from Wiggle for £66.50.

Other dhb Aeron shorts and tights

If you prefer not to wear bib shorts there are waist high shorts.

Men have their own range of Aeron shorts made just for them. For example the dhb men’s Aeron bib shorts.

For winter, there are dhb Aeron bib tights for men and winter warm tights for woman.

Matching dhb Aeron jerseys

screen-shot-2016-10-17-at-11-01-25Dhb have a full range of Aeron products so you can mix and match. There’s a dhb Aeron Women’s Sportive Long Sleeve Jersey at £52.25, for example. A neat fitting and lightweight jersey, I would choose this for milder weather days as an outer jacket or on colder days as a mid-layer.

There are three back pockets, as well as a zipped security pocket. The arm and torso length are generous. I have the size small and it fits my long UK10 torso and arms.

The fabric feels super lightweight and silky. It protects form the wind but also allows the sweat to easily wick away. The colourways are really nice.

There is a men’s version of the Sportive jersey, too.

A dhb Aeron women’s full protection softshell jacket is great for winter rides. It’s windproof and water-resistant and boasts an ultra warm brushed back softshell fabric to keep you warm in cold, winter riding conditions.

There are also dhb arm warmers, leg warmers and gloves. See Wiggle for the full range of dhb cycle clothing.
