If you are a keen runner but you’re not sure where to run in the Alps around Chamonix, or you are keen to run one of the classic routes, such as the Tour du Mont Blanc, you could join a guided run. There are a number of companies that offer guided running, both bespoke and in groups.

Run the Wild

I recently enjoyed running the first stage of the Ultra Tour du Mont Blanc route with Run the Wild. Also see Run the Wild. As you will see from my blog, I was very impressed by Run the Wild.

First stage of the TMB with Run the Wild.

Run the Alps

Run the Alps is another company that offers running tours from Chamonix. You can choose self-guided, guided or customised.

The Adventure Running Company

The Adventure Running Company – founded by Sam Brooks and Nikki Barnard – has a mission: “From the rooftop of Africa to the iconic French Alps, we organise psych-inducing, pulse-racing, off-road adventures in the world’s best running destinations.” The offer lots of options around the world and including runs from Chamonix.

UK Tail Preparation (UCPA)

The UCPA organises trail running courses in Argentière.

The North Face

The North Face shop in Chamonix has regular guided runs. See The North Face Chamonix on Facebook.

Patagonia

Patagonia in Chamonix also has a host of events, including runs.

Chalet runners

To be clear, the following are not guiding companies but they are keen runners and can suggest routes for you to run. If you like running and you want a run-friendly place to stay in Chamonix, these chalets could make a great choice.

Mont Blanc Lodge

Chris Roe who operates the Mont Blanc Lodge chalet in the centre of Chamonix (Drop In Chalets) is a keen runner who is always happy to chat running routes, advice, nutrition etc.

Chalet runners: BlackRock Lodge

Likewise, Lizzy and Paul of BlackRock Ski Lodge in Les Houches are keen trail runners, as well as being excellent skiers. They know many routes to run from their back garden. If you stay at their beautiful chalet you can be sure you’ll find out exactly where to run to suit your fitness levels and aspirations.
If you know of any other running guides and companies please do tell me.
