A new Oman e-Visa system has been launched by the country’s Ministry of Tourism with the aim of increasing tourism in the nation. Already, the nation is witnessing an increase in the number of tourists, both global and regional, and they aim is to build on this.

The plan is to reach a total of 11 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2040. It’s claimed that the recent launch of Oman’s e-visas will help in processing the growing number of Oman visa applications. In addition, it will further provide updates about the technical status of Oman visa applications while making the processing of getting Oman visas simpler.

Oman e-visa is an online (web-based) application process that enables travellers to make application, pay fees and get visa information after the issuance of the visa. Tourists from across the world are now allowed to apply for Oman visas online for visiting the Sultanate of Oman. Oman e-visas authorise Oman visa holders to come to Oman for a specific period of time.

An Oman visa online or Oman e-visa is required to visit Oman unless you hail from any visa-exempt nations. Under Oman e-visa system, individuals can apply for Oman visas over the internet from any place and at any time. Payment has to be made online at the visa application time.

Oman’s Ministry of Tourism will participate in various tourism promoting activities in upcoming Riyadh Travel Fair and Arabian Travel Market. In the coming months, the ROP (Royal Oman Police) shall launch the online Oman work visa as part of its digitalisation scheme. In addition, several other enhancements for Oman e-visa system are also being considered.

Giving details about Oman e-visa scheme, an ROP official stated that, presently, five types of Oman visas are there under Oman e-visa option. The official further informed that recently, a new email notification on Oman visas was launched. Several other similar expansions and enhancements shall be introduced before the end of 2019. Meanwhile, top priority is Oman online work visas, he claimed.

Oman also announced speedy visa approval process for expats if Omanisation targets are fulfilled. Under a latest government scheme, Oman Expat visas shall be issued in a record span of 24 hours. Companies dedicated to an Omanisation staffing scheme shall be authorised to fast-track Oman visas for expat workers. The new fast-track Oman visas priority service named the Word Environment Measurement Card Al Majeedah is part of Tanfeedh’s program aimed at diversification of the economy and enhancement of the private sector to Omani nationals.

To ensure timely approval of Oman visas, the ROP staff at the Directorate General Of Passport & Residence work round the clock, the official revealed. Visitors are urged to apply for Oman visas at least one week in advance to avoid any unavoidable delays although majority of Oman visas are issued in a record span of one day or even less.

Oman Visas on arrival are also being issued to citizens of certain nations and GCC nationals, the official informed. However, to fast track the system at the ports of entry, the ROP appeals to all individuals to get Oman visa in advance.
