Salomon Skyline Scotland has launched three new trail races – a 5km, 10km and 18km – as part of this year’s programme of running events in the Scottish Highlands from September 21 to 22.
The trail races will have the same start and finish arena as the already established Salomon Skyline Scotland races in Kinlochleven.
3 new trail races
Grey Mare’s Trail Race
Distance: 5km
Start: 10:30am, Saturday September 21
Cost: £19.
With steep ascents and zig-zagging rocky trails, could the Grey Mare’s Trail Race be Britain’s toughest 5km? The views are also special, with a vista over Loch Leven and the surrounding Munros.
Loch Eilde Mòr Trail Race
Distance: 10km
Start: 9am, Sunday September 22
Cost: £29.
This race heads through woodland to more remote territory and Loch Eilde Mór via some steep climbing. Runners will be rewarded by tremendous views on the return descent.
Three Mealls Trail Race
Distance: 18km
Start: 9am, Sunday September 22
Cost: £39.
Feeling bold? The 18km Three Mealls Trail Race includes the biggest hills, the widest views and the most memorable single-track running.
The details
Club runners are warmly welcomed to compete, with full recognition given to club name in the entry lists and official race timing for all three trail races.
A finisher’s medal will be presented to all competitors completing the race (within the course closure time).
Younger participants
Grey Mare’s Trail Race (5K): 14 to 17-year-olds welcome to race without adult supervision if a parent/guardian accompanies them to registration.
12 to 13-year-olds welcome to race with their parent/guardian, who must also accompany them to registration.
No U12s.
Loch Eilde Mòr Trail Race (10k): 16 to 17-year-olds welcome to race without adult supervision if a parent/guardian accompanies them to registration.
14 to 1-year-olds welcome to race with their parent/guardian who must also accompany them to registration.
No U14s.
Three Mealls Trail Race (18k): No U18s.
