Review of Outwell driveaway tent for campervans

Outwell sells a collection of tents and awnings, with Power Air System frames (basically these are blow up poles), that can be attached to a campervan to offer more space and versatility during a campsite holiday. I have reviewed the Outwell Scenic Road 250SA tent. It has now been replaced with a more updated version, the Parkville 260SA.

Outwell decided to update their collection and introduced drive-aways that run parallel with the campervan to make better use of pitch size. The new design also allows you to drive either side of the awning and therefore offers campers better views outside.

Check out two awning models, are the Jonesville. There are also different types of tents that you can choose from the online market like the Best Waterproof Tent.

Connection kit for drive-away ease

It’s well worth investing in a connection kit so you can drive away and to your awning. For example, if your campervan has an awning rail then you use this connection kit. Simply slide the 7cm or 5cm (or both depending on C-channel size) beading through the campervan rail and slide the figure-of-eight track on to both this and the awning beading to connect the two. You “unslide” the material between the campervan and track to drive away.

How to pitch an Outwell Smart Air Drive Away tent

I reviewed the tent during Lockdown restrictions so it was pitched in my garden. This allowed me to see how the tent goes up, the space it offers and many of the features.

I realised that I need to purchase a connection kit to allow me to easily drive away once the tent is pitched.

There is a lot to like about a drive-away tent – and some things I am not so keen on. This tent model is still available to purchase with some retailers but it’s worth noting that there are have been newer models brought out by Outwell. The principles are similar though.
