For some, the idea of relaxing by a resort pool all day while on holiday will simply never appeal. Instead, many people prefer to explore new surroundings and see exciting new attractions. For those people, the option of going skiing and walking, cycling, running in the great outdoors is far more appealing.

In terms of bucket list adventures well worth sampling on your next trip away, the options are wide-ranging in this wonderful world of ours. If you are looking for some ideas to add to your bucket list of adventure destinations, read on.

Raft the Grand Canyon

Plenty of people want to see the Grand Canyon in America before they leave the planet, but not many people are aware that you can ride a raft down it too.

Providing a truly unique view of the Canyon from a different angle, seeing it from water level is dramatic and exhilarating.

Starting at the north-east of Grand Canyon National Park, the full run comes courtesy of Lees Ferry and a selection of other commercial tour-operated trips.

Take a ranch holiday in the USA

Staying in America once again, the idea of experiencing a traditional ranch holiday appeals to some people. Instead of sampling cowboy movies like Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven and spinning in the virtual world with a session of Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven slot, which is inspired by the legendary jockey, you can experience it all in real life.

The all-American adventure is a horseback riding holiday in the gorgeous surroundings of the Texas Hill Country, where Dixie Dude Ranch is a great option.

You can also have fun hiking, swimming, and join in with some sing-a-longs around the campfire in the evenings.

Snorkel with sharks in the Galapagos

If you’ve always wanted to swim with sharks and are feeling brave enough to do it, then the island of Marchena in the Galapagos archipelago is a fantastic option.

Punta Espejo, which is located on the southeast edge of the island, is a great destination for this activity. As well as swimming with an array of sharks, you might encounter some friends of the dolphin and sea turtle variety, too.

Niagara Falls.

Voyage to Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has always been a go-to destination for holidaymakers, but to get there, it generally requires a bus or a car. In order to soak up the panoramic views in a more immersive manner, why not hop on a catamaran to explore Canada’s most iconic attraction? You can’t take in the likes of American Falls and the Niagara Gorge in a better way.

Paraglide over the Alps

One for the extreme adventurer, paragliding over the Alps in Europe is an amazing experience. Skiing and hiking are worth doing, too, but if you fancy taking things up a notch then you simply can’t beat a paragliding adventure, especially in such glorious mountain surroundings.

Explore the Thrihnukagigur Volcano in Iceland

The Thrihnukagigur Volcano in Iceland is a truly beautiful sight to behold, with people flocking to the area to take what is a truly unique descent below the earth’s surface.

Since 2012, a large selection of commercial tours have been in operation and are generally announced on a year-by-year basis. Should you manage to get yourself on one, then you most definitely won’t regret it.
