Gore-Tex Gear Tour 2023 – care and repair your kit

The GORE-TEX Gear Tour 2023 comes to the Scottish Highlands calling at Ellis Brigham Aviemore on September 30, from 9am to 5pm, and Ellis Brigham Fort William on October 1, from 9am to 5.30pm.

There will be advice on how to wash and care for your Gore-Tex products, as well as some limited repair slots.

The tour is in partnership with outdoor retailer Ellis Brigham and with support from product care specialists Grangers. GORE-TEX brand’s authorised repair centre, Scottish Mountain Gear, will also be at the events.

The limited repair slots – all free of charge – can be booked in advance, with repairs including:
● Seam repairs on damaged garments, using seam tape
● Simple patching on most 2 and 3-layer GORE-TEX garments
● Replacement of zip slides and Velcro on cuffs and main zip flaps.

Cat Shearer from the GORE-TEX brand says: “Giving customers the advice they need to extend the life of their GORE-TEX garments is a no-brainer. If they’re using correct wash and care methods, and considering repairs to their gear instead of replacing with new products, that’s better for everyone.

“It means products are in use longer, money is saved, plus environmental footprints are reduced. Supporting longer garment life is part and parcel of a more sustainable future.”

There are 70 wash-and-proof or repair slots available on both UK dates of the GORE-TEX GEAR TOUR. Only one garment can be repaired per person and customers are asked to wash products for repair in advance.

Scottish Mountain Gear will make the final decision on whether a repair is possible, and any defects in addition to those listed will be handled in consultation with the on-site repair team, depending on the time and materials available.

Wash, care and repair slots can be booked in advance at Gore-Tex Gear Tour.
