New cyclosportive event on Isle of Mull
Twitter pal @scottishcross has sent me details of a new Scottish cycle sportive taking place on the gorgeous Isle of Mull. I love Mull and this event route will take in some of the island’s truly stunning scenery.
The Mull Cyclosportive is on Sunday June 12. There are two routes: 85 miles or 42 miles. The longer route will head right around the island. The event is raising cash for two worthwhile charities: Help for Heroes and the RNLI, specifically the Tobermory Lifeboat.
The 85 mile route heads south east, edging along the Sound of Mull, the stretch of water that separates Mull from the mainland. Cyclists then turn west, circling the base of Ben More, Mull’s very own Munro. Returning up the west coast of the island takes in fab views to the Treshnish Isles, and further out the Isles of Coll and Tiree. You may even spot eagles, red deer and seals along the way.
The shorter route heads around the north end of the island only.
Both routes will have feed stations and back-up support. And everyone who completes will receive a Mull Cyclosportive memento. If you finish under a (to be) specified time you’ll also receive a medal.
