New mountain bike bus link to Glentress

Written by Fiona November 01 2011

Keen mountain biker Karl Mott spotted a gap in the outdoors market while studying at college in Edinburgh. The business studies graduate couldn’t afford a car and so he struggled to find the transport to reach MTB Mecca Glentress, some 20 miles south of the city near Peebles. Now Karl and his wife Abie have set up a new transport link between the capital and Glentress, called  Bike Bus Glentress. The new service runs twice daily at weekends and once mid-week.

Bike Bus GlentressKarl, a qualified Mountain Bike Leader (MBLA), reckons his affordable service is perfect for both locals and those travelling from further afield. He says: “Glentress has been very car-oriented up until now, but with this new service cyclists can catch a train into Edinburgh then hop on the Bike Bus. It also provides a more sustainable option for people who would normally make the trip by car.”

The Bike Bus is an eight-seat minibus with a specially designed trailer capable of carrying up to 10 bikes at a time. In addition to the travel service, Bike Bus Glentress offers introductory guiding for beginners and intermediate riders and bike hire is available at the Glentress Peel Centre.

To book the Bike Bus, find out about fares or ask for more info see  Bike Bus Glentress or call:  07549145634. Info about Glentress mountain biking see Glentress Forest and The Hub in the Forest.
