The good – and the not so good – of cycling in the UK

Written by Fiona January 28 2014

Cycling is great for our health and the environment.  On average cycling burns 600 calories per hour and we can cycle 1037km on the energy equivalent to a litre of petrol. Cycling also saves money – and can save time at busy commuter times of the day.

(Although the UK is still one of the safest countries in Europe for children to cycle.) Or that 75% of fatal or serious cyclist accidents occur in urban areas, compared to 50% of cyclist fatalities on country roads?

But still the health benefits of cycling outweigh the risks by 20 to 1.

All these facts, and many more, have been put together in an eye-catching infographic, created by solicitors firm, Osbornes, to show the many  good – and  not so good – points of cycling.
