Running part of the GB Relay

Written by Fiona June 17 2014

Have you heard about the GB Relay? It is an attempt to break the world record for the longest distance ever run in a relay around Britain. The aim is more than 7,000km between June 1 and July 2, 2014. Many thousands of runners are taking part in it.

Yesterday the GB Relay passed the half-way mark. So far it has run from Scarborough, north to the Scottish east coast. It has travelled a circuit of Scotland and is now being run through Wales at it heads south down the west coast of the UK.

I took part in two stages. One was a very wet 10k between Dennyloanhead and Kilsyth (stage 151). The other was a warm and sunny 14km (stage 185) between Southwick and New Abbey in Dumfries & Galloway.

I am now following the GB Relay’s progress via Facebook . The organisation and communication of such a huge relay is incredible and it is brilliant to see so many people coming together to make this relay happen.

Thanks to Mike Bolam for his fab D&G pics.
