Gore-Tex Surround: Innovation for the sole

Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports is the UK’s first retailer to stock the new Gore-Tex Surround™ footwear, which features 360° breathability.

Gore-Tex Surround™ technology “extends the breathability of the footwear so moisture can escape from both above and underneath the foot, while still offering full waterproof protection”.

Ellis Brigham is thrilled to have the first stock of footwear that uses this new technology. Footwear buyer for Ellis Brigham, Jeremy Stevens, says: “Gore-Tex Surround™ is a clever solution to a long-standing problem – how to bring breathability to the sole of the foot. We think it will be a winner for the discerning hiker.’

Championed by boot makers Meindl, Gore-Tex Surround™ features in their new X-SO series. Ellis Brigham is among the first retailers in the UK to receive delivery of Meindl’s X-SO 30 and the X-SO 70, both with men’s and women’s versions available.

In-store now, the X-SO 30 walking shoes are priced at £149.99 and are best suited to hiking in the warmer months. The Surround technology easily channels excess heat away and the ventilated mesh uppers help to keep the weight down, while reinforced toecaps protect against rocky terrain.

Spring will see the arrival of the X-SO 70 mid-height boots, which are ideal for hiking on mixed terrain. Made from velour leather and mesh uppers, they balance weight, breathability and performance. The Surround technology and a durable Meindl Magic Active sole mean these boots are great for summer hiking on both wet and dry trails.
