The Selkirk MTB Marathon, which takes place on May 2 2015, will showcase some of the best natural riding in the Scottish Borders – and is the host of British Cycling’s National MTB Marathon Championships.

But before you commit to enter – or for a preview of the course if you have already entered – why not take a look at some of the amazing trails from the 50km and 75km race routes?

Durty Events, who organise this prestigious event, are promising more teasers in the next few weeks. You can also keep up to date on the race though Facebook and Twitter (#selkirkmtb).

What is the Selkirk MTB Marathon?

Setting out from Selkirk Rugby Club, there will be three different single-loop “sportive” distances available, 25km, 50km and 75k, offering a course for all, including families, novices, intermediates, enthusiasts and racing snakes.

The trails use a great mix of flowy natural and trail centre singletrack, ancient drove road, stiff climbs and grin-inducing descents. And wherever the courses take you, there are incredible views (if you can take your eyes off the trail in front!).

Free family bike festival

On May 1, Durty Events are also holding a FREE family focused Bike Festival as part of the marathon weekend. Thanks to Scottish Borders Council they will close Selkirk’s High Street between 7pm and 9pm and turn it over to all kinds of two-wheeled fun.

This year’s attractions include a pump track, an airbag, head-to-head roller racing, 3-Sixty Bike Stunt Team displays, a mini cinema showing bike films (including the making of Danny Macaskill/Cut Media’s epic The Ridge) and Hardies Bikes of Melrose.

Competitors can enter the Selkirk MTB Mountain via Entry Central. Also see links from www.selkirkmtbmarathon.com
