Athlete’s Everest charity rope climb

An athlete has set himself an incredible challenge, to climb the equivalent height of Mt Everest on a rope. Michael McCastle will climb the equivalent of 29,029ft on a 20ft rope this Saturday.

He will be raising funds for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons and hopes to achieve a $20,000 target.

Michael’s Anython event page is taking pledges for every 1,000ft he climbs.

Anython is a site where people can pledge to raise money for charity by doing a “thon”. Whether it’s a sing-a-thon, a tennis-a-thon or a good old-fashioned marathon, any kind of event can be set up and tracked.

Scott Donnell, president and founder of Anython, says: “We’re very excited for Michael’s Everest Rope Climb and to be able to help him raise money based on how high he can climb.

“Events like this are exactly why we launched Anython – to give amazing people doing amazing things a new way to fundraise based on their actual results. We’ve turned fundraising into more of a game that people enjoy doing.”

The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons charity is a cause close to the heart of world-renowned athlete McCastle. His dad recently passed away after many years of suffering from the illness.
