Blue bird day on two Munros
A blue bird day is defined as a beautiful sunny day after an overnight snowfall. It’s a perfect skiing (and walking) day with a clear blue sky, bright sun and fresh snow.
In Scotland, a bluebird day is fairly rare. We get lots of snow and a fair few days of blue skies but we rarely enjoy calm, clear weather on a day when there is fresh snow and blue skies. So, I felt very lucky to be able to enjoy a Munro bagging blue bird day as part of my Munroaming Facebook group on a trip to the Outdoor Capital UK. #outdoorcapitalUK
We ended up being a five-strong Munroaming group. Pedro bagged Binnein Mor while Bobby almost bagged it. He is better known as the Munro Blagger. He walks to within 50m of every Munro and is doing so to raise money for charity.
Nick, Dan and I bagged both Munros before a tough and steep descent back to the car. The best way to show this day to others is photographs. It was one of those truly breath-taking Scottish winter days when the weather is perfect, the views are spectacular and the walking is hard but rewarding. The company was great, too.
That’s me at 194 Munros bagged out of 282.
