The Outdoor Capital episode 2
I find myself the presenter of a new promotional film for The Outdoors Capital UK. This is both cringing and exciting! Like many people, I am not hugely comfortable with hearing myself on an audio recording, such as the radio, or seeing myself on screen.
However, I was asked to take part in a film of The Outdoor Capital UK and because I love this area of Scotland I couldn’t resist.
I headed up to the Fort William and Lochaber region, aka The Outdoor Capital UK, recently to try a range of outdoors activities and to speak a bit to camera.
I had no idea that I would end up being the main voice and presenter on this promotional film – and I still can’t decide if it’s just a tad too cringy or simply good commentary on a fantastic area of Scotland. I have certainly learned a few things about presenting.
However, when I sent the video to my dad to have a look he said it was good. He can be critical so if he says it’s fine then it must be.
What I find interesting is that all of what I said was off-the-cuff. It came from what I know and have learned over 30 years of living in Scotland and more than 15 years of being out and about enjoying the great outdoors and reporting on it. It seems I know my stuff!
I like how the film has been put together by John Sutherland of Croft Leven and it’s great to be part of something that is promoting such a wonderful part of Scotland. Of course, there are so many areas of Scotland that are amazing and I could wax lyrical about many of them but I do like the Fort William and Lochaber region. See what you think.
