New Zealand adventurer and photographer Joseph Michael takes the most incredible pictures of fabulous landscapes. For his latest project he set out to create an impressive multimedia art installation in one of the world’s wildest areas, Antarctica.

Joe’s Marine Adventure journey celebrates the unique natural world of Antartica in a stunning cinematic production, working in partnership with outdoor clothing brand MUSTO. The subsequent film will be shown in major cities worldwide.

Joe wanted to capture on film the awe-inspiring beauty and scale of Antarctica and to reveal both the splendour and fragility of nature. In doing so, he required clothing that would perform to the highest level in the harshest of conditions. MUSTO was the ideal brand because their clothing, made with Gore-Tex and Primaloft Gold, is acclaimed as being highly waterproof, windproof and breathable.

Ice Project 3

The Joseph Michael Expedition, including producer Mark Michel, set sail from Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, and crossed the infamous Drake Passage, before travelling 1500km to the eastern coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.

The expedition team used the latest technologies, combined with aerial and underwater filming, to create a multimedia art installation that will be unique for each urban destination.
