We all have muscle aches and pains from time to time and just now I am suffering with a bit of a lower back and hip problem. Fortunately, I have been sent some pain relieving products to try by Puressentiel.
One is a gel formula and the other is a roll on. ThePuressentiel Muscle & Joints gel includes “14 essential oils”. These essential oils are described as being aromatherapy based and include, for example, chamomile, cloves eucalyptus, peppermint, lavandin, pine and rosemary.
The rosemary explains the slightly herby smell although the overall aroma of the product is pleasantly pine and fresh.
The products are claimed to:
- Take care of muscles before and after exercise
- Relax and soothe strained muscles
- Ease muscles suppleness.
They are:
- Tolerance tested
- Preservative-free
- Artificial fragrance-free.
When first applied, the gel and roll-on feels pleasantly cooling but not overly ice cold. It quickly goes to work to soothe/numb the area of soreness and gives pain relief for up to about an hour or so. The first 10 to 15 minutes is the most relieving and after that it wears off to a gentle soothing, rather than a full-on cooling soothing.
If you want to massage the products into the skin you can go ahead and do so but make sure you wash your hands afterwards.
I am not sure I believe in the claim that the gel eases muscle suppleness. The products are more of a skin soother than a deep muscle rub so I can’t see how they help with suppleness of muscles. They do give a nice level of gentle and soothing pain relief, however, especially in my lower back.
I quite like the smell of the product. Many other similar products that are made of non-natural ingredients that smell very pungent. The Puressentiel herby/piney/minty fragrance is quite pleasant.
I also like the long list of natural oils. I prefer to use natural ingredients for pain relief.
The roll on is really useful as well. If you are away from home (or a bathroom) you can roll on the pain reliever without need of washing your hands.
