The second annual Summit Funny outing took place yesterday when 50 comedy fans walked to the top of the Perthshire Munro, Schiehallion. Despite thick cloud and 60mph winds, the walkers enjoyed the UK’s Highest Comedy Gig at 1083m. Award winning Scottish comedians Gary Little, Chris Forbes and Alan Anderson performed for 40 minutes.

The event has so far raised £1500 for Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital Charity (formerly Yorkhill).

Last year, Summit Funny took place on the top of Scotland’s most southerly Munro, Ben Lomond. Yesterday the gig was held  at a height of 109m more.
Schiehallion was chosen as it has strong links with the Glasgow Children’s Hospital where there is the specialist oncology Schiehallion Ward.

The walkers took 2.5 hours to reach the summit of Schiehallion, where they huddled together in temperatures of a chilly 5C to enjoy the show. A highlight was when Chris encouraged everyone to sing the Scottish football song, Coming Round The Mountain. Chris regularly volunteers as a play leader in the hospital’s Schiehallion ward.
More than a dozen of the audience had never previously climbed a Munro (one of 282 Scottish mountains with a summit of more than 3000ft), while one walker  was on his 10th ascent of Schiehallion, having already completed a full round of the Munros.
Workers from Harviestoun Brewery joined the climb and donated cans of their Schielhallion Lager to audience members at the summit.
