Climbing the ‘crux’ Marilyn on St Kilda

Written by Fiona

I wrote this week of Jenny Hatfield’s plan to walk her final Marilyn. It’s a huge achievement, made all the more impressive because she had ticked off the sea stac summit Stac Lee on the island of St Kilda. Stac Lee, the second highest sea stack in the UK, is considered the crux of any completion of this list of hills and mountains.

Very few people have summited Stac Lee. This video shows the climb last October by a group of 12 people. They managed to get a weather window outside of the bird nesting season and made a successful ascent.

Two in  the group completed their Marilyns on this sea stac. Jenny was also there with her partner Rick Salter.
