Kit review: SKINS DNAmic Thermal running tights
I have several pairs of SKINs running tights. I really like them and I find they last for years. Recently I have been testing the new SKINS DNAmic Women’s Thermal running tights.
The tights look and feel just like my regular SKINS but they have a brushed inside. The thermal properties are designed to keep you warm on cold days.
The SKINS Thermal fabric is a blend of Polyamind and Elastane, which “combines high pulling and abrasion resistance with excellent breathability and a soft feel against your skin”.
I have found that my ordinary SKINS tights can leave my legs quite chilly in the winter so these thermal tights are a brilliant alternative.
SKINS DNAmic thermal tights features:
- Merge compression tech with temperature regulating thermal fabrics to keep you warm, fight fatigue and reduce the risk of injury.
- Thermal fabric for warmth in temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F)
- Soft microfibre waistband anchors on to the hips for comfort and stability
- Stretch key loop fastened on to waistband for safe key storage
- Reflective logos on ankles for low light visibility
- UV protection of 50+
Details about SKINS technologies
Dynamic gradient compression: Increases oxygen delivery to active muscles while in motion and reduces lactic-acid build-up for more power and less recovery time
Muscle Focus: Uniquely wrapping and supporting your key muscle groups to reduce movement and focus direction for less vibration in your muscles, less soft tissue damage and less soreness after exercise
Moisture management: Keeping you dry through advanced wicking is inherent in all SKINS fabrics – moisture is drawn away from your skin, so you stay dry and comfortable
This weekend it was cold but bright in Scotland. My normal SKINS tights would not be a great choice because they would leave my legs a bit chilly. If I didn’t have the SKINS thermal tights to test I would have chosen my Falke winter running tights.
The SKINs DNAmic thermal tights feel so lovely as soon as you put them on. The brushed inside gives them a really soft feel against the skin. Although the fabric is a bit thicker than other SKINS tights it’s not overly noticeable.
The SKINS seem to wrap themselves around your legs and bum and give great support where needed. I didn’t feel as though they were too tight, nor too loose. They are just perfect.
The waistband is not too high, which I prefer. It sits just below my waist line but the tights still stay up. The waistband seems to magically stick to the waist but without being noticeable.
The length of the tights is also really good. I have long legs and although I wear size small in SKINS tights, the leg cuffs are still long enough.
I find the fit and design gives a flattering look, too. I know many women who want to feel good in their running tights so a flattering look is a good thing.
On a cold and slightly breezy run as well as a hike/run on a very snowy mountain the tights offered exactly the right warmth. I didn’t feel overly warm, not chilly. I didn’t sweat too much and I felt as though the tights offered brilliant support.
After exercise my muscles felt to be in great condition, too. I do think that SKINS aid with recovery of the muscles or reduce the affect of lactic acid on muscles and so I often choose them to wear because of this.
These SKINS tights are a great winter choice. I may well ask Santa for another pair for Christmas!
