Take advantage of Adventure Pass crowdfunder

Written by Fiona

I like to support campaigns, services and products that aim to get more people out and about enjoying the great outdoors. The new Adventure Pass is worth a look.

Starting with a new crowdfunding campaign launched today, the Adventure Pass gives sports and activity fans the ability to sign up to discounted deals on ski, snowboard, mountain bike, paddle board and surfboard rentals worldwide.

The concept is to make it easier for travellers to plan trips, to cut the costs of hiring gear and to also avoid the cost of the carriage of bikes, skis, snowboards etc by plane.

What is Adventure Pass?

The Adventure Pass takes the form of different subscription memberships. There’s a Premier Pass that gives you free rentals of all of the Adventure Pass gear everywhere you go. It costs £600 for the year but just now there is an Indiegogo Crowdfunder deal of £450 for the first 50 claimed.

A Club Pass, which will normally cost £50 per year (there are cut price crowdfunder deals just now) gets you 25% discounts on rentals at every shop in the Adventure Pass network.

There is also a Green membership for unlimited bike hire, Silver membership for unlimited ski & snowboard hire and Blue membership for unlimited surfboard hire.

The Adventure Pass network starts in Spetember 2017, but the crowdfunder deals are ready for purchase now.

How Adventure Pass work

Once you have bought chosen Adventure Pass, you download an app and then go on your trip. Whenever there’s an adventure that requires rental gear, just open the app, find the nearest rental outlet, click the button to reserve your gear and pick it up.

Founder Nic Woodhams says: “Adventure Pass gives you more flexibility than owning your own gear and it lets you take opportunities to try different sports without budget constrictions.”

More reasons to back Adventure Pass

Adventure Pass has pledged that for every 10 passes that are sold, they will sponsor a place for an underprivileged child’s adventure on an outward bound course.

The money will assist with the charities Calvert Trust, Hope for Youth Northern Ireland and The Outward bound Trust.

Nic says: “I hope people will help the disadvantaged and disabled get outdoors with our Giving Back programme.

“If you love the outdoors and you want to encourage more people to enjoy it, backing this new venture could offer one of the keys to unlocking adventure travel for more, especially those that do not have the budgets for it.”

The man behind the idea

Nic, a former army officer, says: “I love travelling and the only regrets I’ve ever truly had were when I was just feet away from an unforgettable adventure, but didn’t have the cash to rent the gear I needed.”

The board of directors includes Dom Jackman, founder of London-based Escape the City; Eddie Robb, the founder of Edinburgh’s Make it Social; and Gillian Morris, the founder of San Francisco flight app HitList.
