I love this idea for a Scottish trail running race. The inaugural Dramathon – The Speyside Single Malt Marathon takes place on Saturday October 21, 2017
The Dramathon is a marathon distance trail running race on the long-distance walking route, the Speyside Way, from Glenfarclas distillery to Glenfiddich distillery.
The route passes several distilleries and at each participating distillery runners will be stamped so they can pick up the corresponding miniatures at the end of the race.
If you prefer not to run a marathon there’s also a half-marathon (Tamdhu to Glenfiddich), a 10k (Aberlour to Glenfiddich) or a relay race (team of four divides up the marathon route) to pick.
The course is said to be fairly flat and mostly follows the old railway line of the Speyside Way. The terrain is forest tracks with some occasional short sections on minor roads and some hilly sections.
Another bonus of holding the event in October is the superb autumnal views.
Dramathon entry costs:
Marathon: £50 (+ 5% Entry Central card processing fee)
Half Marathon: £30 (+ 5% Entry Central card processing fee)
Relay Race (per Team of 4): £100 (+ 5% Entry Central card processing fee)
10k: £25 (+ 5% Entry Central card processing fee).
