On test: Keen Terradora hiking boots
You’ll either love or hate the look of Keen boots. It’s sort of a Marmite thing! I really like the rounded, chunky and funky look of them. The Terradoras are created from a fashionable looking fabric although it turns out this is actually waterproof and breathable KEEN-DRY fabric so it’s highly practical, as well as cool looking.
The boots are meant to be hybrids, so they can be used on summer trails and paths, as well as when strolling in urban areas. In my opinion, they make a great boot for travellers especially if you enjoy city breaks that include a few park or hill trails.
The boots offer Keen’s usual high levels of comfort. Put your feet into the boots and they are immediately at home. The wider fit is so comfortable and the footbed is natural feeling yet also supportive, especially in the heel area.
The boots are lightweight, too, and feel more like running trainers than hiking boots.

The fabric is definitely waterproof. I am not sure how durable it will be in the long-term because it looks more like the fabric used on clothes rather than traditional fabric boots but I imagine KEEN has thought of this. The boots are meant for urban use and easygoing trails so they will not need to withstand mountain rocks and difficult terrain so I expect they will be long-lasting if used as they are meant to be.
The soles underline the fact that these boots are meant for easy going trails and tarmac. They offer some grippiness but not the sort of more aggressive lugs you would expect in a full-on walking or mountaineering boot.
It’s great to see an outdoors product company doing something different with walking boots. The Keen Terradoras look funky as well as being practical and, in my opinion, they fill a gap on the market for boots that suit more leisurely walking and travelling.
It’s recommended that you order half a size smaller than your normal fit because the boots are a little bigger than you might expect.
The Keen Terradoras sell for around £109.99, which I think is a fair price for a well made and practical boot.
