A 12km trail race in Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute, challenges you to run “From Hel N Back”.
The race starts at 11am on September 10 and starts and finishes at the town’s Hermitage Academy.
It takes in a scenic off-road course on the Three Lochs Way and the John Muir Way.
Runners will need to climb an elevation of 1,253ft (that’s the “Hel” part of it) but race director Laura Johnstone assures competitors “the views will be worth it”. Of course, there is the descent to look forward to as well.
Laura adds: “The race started as a handful of local runners who enjoyed running the tough route that gives stunning views over Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Alps and the Clyde.
“We wanted to share it with others and to promote the local trails, as well as the two famous routes, so we decided to launch a race on the same course.
“I think it must be one of the most challenging 12km races in Scotland yet it must also be one of the most beautiful.”
This year there will be a 5km Wee Devils’ Dash for junior runners aged 12 and over.
There will be prizes for winning runners in men, women, local and vet categories and a memento for all finishers, as well as the wonderful local Dino’s Café ice cream after the race..
The entry limit is 200 and the price is £14 for the full From Hell n Back race and £5 for the Wee Devils’ Dash.
