The 2018 editions of the Wild Nature Diary and Wild Nature Calendar, published and edited by John Beatty, are now available from Wild Nature.
The desk diary (priced £16) and compact calendar (£12) are filled with stunning images drawn from photographers with direct experience of encounters from the natural world.
The 2018 editions mark the 24th year of the Wild Nature Diary and Calendar that John has edited and published for the John Muir Trust.
John, an internationally renowned travel, wildlife and adventure photographer, says: “This year I have introduced a host of new photographers’ works. The brilliance and finesses of these images makes my job as editor one of enormous enjoyment. Whether it is basalt or beetles, mountains or molluscs, this year’s edition is full of wonders.”
The publications also introduce more photos from women photographers. John says: “There are around 20 images from seven female photographers. It has made a huge difference, giving a much more intimate feel, a vision of the inner-part of the natural world.”
The diary’s foreword is by TV presenter and naturalist Chris Packham. He says: “It’s time for us all to pull our heads out of the peat…these are very dark days for the environment [but] all is far from lost…Caring is no longer enough …It’s time to stop sitting down moaning and musing over our collective predicament, it’s time to stand up, be counted and contribute.”
