On test: Griffin Survivor Rugged Power Bank Battery

This is a solid and robust feeling gadget. It’s not lightweight, but it is tough and durable. It easily withstands the rough and tumble of outdoors adventures and travel, whether you throw it into the bottom of your rucksack for emergencies, carry it in a pocket or in a cycling pannier.

I always try to have a power bank with me, especially when I know I’ll be outdoors all day. The cold can affect the charge in an iPhone and there are times when I need to give the phone a recharge so I can take photos or, more importantly, find out where I am on a navigation/map app.

If weight is an issue you’ll want to find a lighter charger to take on your travels but if you want a charger that will give multiple recharges of your phone this is a good product.

I dunked it into a bowl of water and dropped it on to the floor to no ill affect.

I am not sure why I’d ever need the “emergency” flashlight but it’s there if ever I do.

This appears to be a solid and trustworthy charger – and the addition of a year’s warranty gives peace of mind.
